MARY MULLER

Mary Muller began recording her first audio album early in RC 20.

“Daughter of Grace” featured mostly originals songs.  Mary and J. Grant Hollenbach (RC 19, 20)  attended the Estes Park, CO, CCM Music Summit in 1994 where Mary’s song “Cast Your Cares” was recognized as a finalist in the Praise and Worship awards.

“Covered,” recorded in 1998, boasted mostly classic works of Christian faith and was recorded soon after Emma was born.  The classic “Put Your Hand in the Hand” featured a choir of Re-Creation alumni, RC 22, abd many special guests!

“Those Who Wait” was co-produced by Dove Award winner, John Rowsey and saw Mary’s return to mostly original songs.  One song, “A Moment of Silence” was a tribute to Mary’s grandfather.  That song was reworked for RC 39 and was wonderfully performed by Rebecca Aclin, who added her own sincerity and faith-walk to such an important message.  Another song, “Be Still” counts as the “one that ot away”…Jay always wanted to steal that song for Re-Creation but the transition to the RC program never happened!

“The Re-Creation Singles” feature Mary in spotlight performances throughout the decades as the special guest vocalist for RC programs.  These single cuts represent an amazing vocal feast of classic songs and never-before-heard gems.  Jay followed through with his own collection of RC-centric songs used in programs throughout his 30-year tenure as director.

JAY MULLER

The Traditions Quartet was made up of Jay Muller, David Kazee, Jim Worthing and Todd Murray.  Jay wanted to record a collection of gospel quartet classics, but, naturally, he couldn’t create that project alone.  Whom to ask to help?  Why, only the best of course!  These wonderful singers, and good buddies, gathered in Kentucky at Dave’s studio to record the first collection.  The guys were even able to travel and tour in central PA…with spotlight performances at Hegins Community Day and a wonderful show at the Selinsgrove Area Middle School.

The second CD was recorded at the studio in Port Trevorton, PA.  All of the guys helped produce, with Dave taking on the executive role. The energy and worship were dynamic.  As was the laughter…

“I remember at one point being doubled over in the studio not being able to breathe I was laughing so hardl. What some people may not realize is, when you sing this kind of music, so much of it is about ‘feel.’  We didn’t have any vocal charts, we just decided on the spot what we would do and who would sing what!  Sometimes that spontaneity birthed some really ingenious takes.  Sometimes, we’d just start busting out laughing at our botched attempts, or weid ‘singing’ faces!  I will forever be grateful that these guys agreed to sing with me.  These two albums are treasures to me.  As are the memories!”  JAY MULLER | RC 11, 12 | RC Director 1993 – 2023

THE MULLER FAMILY

While the Muller children, Emma, Ethan and Elliot all performed with RC at one point or another, the whole family came together for a collection of Christmas songs in “A Muller Family Christmas”. This CD outsold almost every other CD in Re-Creation’s repertoire!  Wow!  Emma’s version of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” remains a highlight…as well as Mary’s live version of “O Holy Night,” a most-requested song for more than 25 years of Christmas shows!
