Still There for our Troops

Sixty years ago, America’s league bowlers answered the call of a nation heading into war. Critical supplies were needed overseas — U.S. forces wounded on the battlefields of Europe were not getting the medical care they needed. The Bowlers Victory Legion was borne to raise money to purchase medical evacuation planes and to support America’s troops.

Now the BVL, Brightening Veterans Lives, helps provide recreational materials to VA Medical Centers and State Homes across America! The BVL also helps contribute to Re-Creation VA tour costs. In fact, The BVL is Re-Creation’s longest-running sponsor, partnering with us for more than 35 years in service to our nation’s veterans!

BVL also contributes to make sure we can have something special to hand the veterans the day of the Re-Creation visit!  BVL pictures featuring the cast members are highly coveted and appreciated, and year-after-year, we see these photos in the patients’ rooms, testifying to the emotional impact and importance of the Re-Creation mission!

In the past 6 years, the FSEA has provided specific and vital support by providing Re-Creation with new road equipment, including new passenger vans, new trailers and a grant for new sound equipment.

The FSEA also houses the cast members at their youth camp in central Florida. The hospitality provided at the camp is crucial to the group’s ability to perform in commercial venues throughout FL during January and February.

The FSEA Army of Hope also provides for the production and distribution of Re-Creation CD’s and DVD’s to every VA facility the group visits!  This substantial gift is vital in extending the Re-Creation presence to the men and women in the hospitals and homes.  Patients will listen to the show again on headphones during rehab sessions, and they’ll watch the show again, on personal or large-room televisions, reliving the special day when America came to their bedside to say THANK YOU!

The Florida Elks set the standard in enthusiastic dedication to our recovering veterans! Thank You Florida Elks!

“As long as there is a veteran in one of our nation’s
medical centers, they won’t be forgotten

For more than 27 years, the B.P.O.E. has been on the front line of Re-Creation’s service to hospitalized veterans. The Elks National Veterans Service Commission historically worked with local Elks Lodges in veterans tour cities to provide housing for Re-Creation cast members.   Now The NVSC handles all responsibility for housing Re-Creation nation-wide!  All Elks representatives are invited to the show and are specially recognized during the program. Extra PR material to advertise the program in local lodges is available through our office.

The Elks do so much to engage and honor our veterans, and we appreciate their continued support!

Practical Gifts of Encouragement

The Coming Home Foundation is dedicated to providing the Re-Creation service across America.   CHF is a new outreach interested in helping smaller charities with a national focus to veterans.  They have pledged to help Re-Creation with travel costs as well as to provide our veteran audiences with unique, practical gifts to help engage the veteran and make the stay in the hospital or home a bit more comfortable, more engaging.  Re-Creation distributes CHF arts-and-craft kits, t-shirts and other items after shows to all veterans.   CHF is not limiting their dedication to strictly VA or SVH audiences, either.  CHF wants Re-Creation to reach all veterans in every kind of care facility!  What a pledge!
